Step 1: Download & Install Renegade

You can now buy all of the classic Command & Conquer games digitally from either Steam or the EA App as part of The Ultimate Collection. 

Step 2: Install the latest Tiberian Technologies Community Patch

The Tiberian Technologies patch is the most popular community update for Renegade. It re-enables online play, adds several new features, contains many bug fixes and makes the game compatible with the latest versions of Windows. 

The Tiberian Technologies Patch contains:

• A functioning in-game server listing for Multiplayer
• An in-game download tool for automatically downloading community maps and mod content when joining servers
• Additional graphics options, including MSAA Anti-Aliasing, VSync
• Access to 4K resolutions and HUD scaling
• Borderless Fullscreen Windowed mode
• Additional Console commands
• Many bug fixes, including the infamous 'Bluehell' bug (if you know, you know!)

Download and install the Tiberian Technologies Patch by clicking here!

Run the downloaded installer file and follow these instructions:

1. Accept the terms and click Next
2. Point the Installer at your Renegade game folder (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command & Conquer Renegade)
3. Click Next
4. Select your Language and click Next
5. Select your component options and click Next
6. Watch the installer work it's magic and click Next when it's done
7. Enter your Renegade Serial Number if you have it, but if you don't that's fine.
8. Click Close

Step 3: Configure Your Settings

To configure your game before you run it you will have to launch the Renegade configuration tool (wwconfig.exe). 

Below is a short guide on how to use it:

1. Click 'Play Game' in Steam and run the Renegade Configuration Tool, for the EA App version, run wwconfig.exe from the game folder.
2. In this tool you can set your resolution as well as many other game options.
3. Note: DISPLAY 1 is typically your primary monitor in Windows. Click on it and set the resolution via the slider afterwards.
4. Spend some time setting up your game options via the various tabs (Video, Audio, Performance) and click Ok to close the config tool when you are satisfied.

Step 4: Run the Game

Play Singleplayer

To play Singleplayer, run the game and then click Singeplayer, followed by Campaign.

You will then launch into the campaign.
 

Play Multiplayer

Join via the In-game Lobby System

With the latest version of the Tiberian Technologies patch installed, you will be able to access game servers via the in-game lobby system.

To play Multiplayer, run the game and then follow these instructions:

1. Click Multiplayer
2. Click GameSpy
3. Click Options, set a Nickname and then Click Back
4. Select a Server and Click Join
5. Follow any instructions that pop up

From here you can join a server from the list:

The W3D Hub launcher is an all-in-one solution for finding Renegade multiplayer servers and mods. Download and install it using the link below:

Once the W3D Hub launcher has been installed, follow the instructions below.

• Run the W3D Hub Launcher
• Click the 'Games' tab in the menu bar
• Click C&C Renegade in the left menu
• If the launcher hasn't found your Game automatically, click 'Import' and browse to 'Game.exe'. This is found where Renegade is installed (usually 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games' or 'C:\Westwood\Renegade')
• To configure settings of the Physical version of the game, click the Game Settings option in the launcher and configure the settings.
  • To configure the Origin version of the game, find WWConfig.exe in the game install folder and configure the settings using the application.

Now you are ready to play multiplayer! To look for online games, go to the Server Browser tab and click the Join Server button next to the server that you want to join:

Known Issues

This section is for known compatibility issues that affect C&C Renegade.

Renegade has visual issues when running with an un-capped framerate, to fix this, make sure that vsync is enabled in the game settings.

If Renegade is installed via EA App, you will be unable to apply your game settings using the W3D Hub Launcher. Use WWConfig.exe, found in the game install folder instead.
